Washington DC, United States (May 09, 2018).- Mexico, the United States and Canada discussed yesterday the Mexican counterproposal of rule of origin for the automotive sector that, according to a source close to the renegotiation, leaves out the wage factor.

During the ministerial meetings in this capital about the renegotiation of the Free Trade Agreement, the commercial managers of Mexico and Canada acknowledged that they addressed the Mexican counterproposal, which responds to a plan presented since March by the US.

“We are entering between very complex and specific details and we are trying to find solutions,” said Secretary of Economy Ildefonso Guajardo, after concluding a bilateral meeting at the offices of the US Trade Representative, Robert Lighthizer.
